[right click here to save]

we're back this week, one day early, with a wonderful selection from norwegian cheese aficionados ost & kjex.

rightly famed for their pop influenced sound that takes in electro. funk, disco and house, ost and kjex also do a wonderful side line in some of the best titles in the dance world. many will be familiar with their previous album 'some cheese but not all cheese comes from the moon' (which won them a nomination for best electronica album at the norwegian grammys) and their left field hit 'how not to be a biscuit'.

now they have returned with their long player 'cajun lunch' brought to you by the still cutting edge diynamic label. keeping on a house tip but mixing in influences from the bayou and contains one of the pop gems of the summer in previous funked up single 'continental lover'. go get it here after you've relaxed in this wide ranging influences mix from the guys. suggested cheese for listening: gruyere.

[right click here to save]

this week we're very happy to welcome the brilliant electronic post-rock band pvt to our club in the ether.

formed in australia the guys have been growing steadily over the past 10 years and many of you will be familiar with their last album 'o soundtrack my heart' released on warp when they were still trading under the name of pivot. they are back this month with a more concise moniker and a new opus going by the name of 'church with no magic' - a wonderful synth fleck powerhouse that has been picking up rave reviews all over. you can pick it up from here.

we were very impressed with the pvt dj skills when they played for us a couple of years ago and this has been furthur underlined by this mix they've put together for us which takes in a vast number of allez-allez touchstone acts. dig in and check out the bands myspace for info on where to see them live in the coming weeks.

we thought we'd take a little bit of time this week to point you in the direction of a couple of things that are floating our boat right now.

first up is the news that mountain man are about to embark on a uk tour. their album 'made the habour' is one of favourite records of this year containing 13 tracks of delicate modern folk held together by the beautiful harmonising of the three members. we're sadly going to miss there london gig at st giles in the fields church as we'll be winging our way to croatia for stop making sense but we strongly recommend you get down and check this beautiful music in the flesh. check here for full details. we'll have more to come from mountain man in the coming weeks so stay tuned.

and secondly our good friends seahawks (who made the majestic space weather sounds mix for us back in january) are offering up a chance to snap up some rare copies of their first 12" "omega beach/keep on growing" from their website. these have all long gone from the shops so if your in the mood for some unique cosmic disco rock sounds go here whilst you can.

[right click here to save]

this week we’re going all the way back to almost the beginning with the return of the man who was our first ever guest on the allez-allez podcast, george demure.

in november 2006 (blimey!) george made a mix for us that set the template for other guests to live up to – a delightful melange of pop, funk, doo-woop and his own dulcet tones. and now he’s back on the mike for this weeks podcast channelling the ‘play misty for me’ delivery he remembers from the radio of his youth.

george has returned this year with a new album ‘the drifter’ – a great collection laced with his unmistakable velvety tones and featuring original material and stonking covers of the smog classic ‘cold blooded old times’ – an allez-allez favourite – and the stranglers peerless ‘golden brown’. george has been kind enough to offer up the latter as a free download which you can get here.

you can pick up the full album here and do take time to visit george’s website which is choc full of music and videos and his own excellent podcast series ‘demure’s diaries’.

but for now relax and enjoy the smooth sounds of dj george demure on KWAA – smooth.

live @ berghain - by jimmy edgar (108.00mb, 74:58mins)
[right click here to save]

oh jimmy jimmy. its very rare for us to move away from our tried and tested mixtape format but when one man electro funk sex machine jimmy edgar comes to us with an amazing live set recorded at berghain we want to share and so that is what we bring you this week.

jimmy edgar is still only in his mid twenties but due to his amazingly early development he feels like somewhat of an elder statesman already. most closely associated with warp records who took him onboard at age 18, jimmy has spent the past decade bringing the funk to the dancefloors of the world. this year he has teamed up with !k7 records to produce what in a sane world would be the biggest selling POP! album of the year. XXX is a joyous record building on his previous work and buffing it up with a sheen that reveals jimmy to be a natural heir to prince. that good.

you can pick up the lp here and but right now revel in this throbbingly great set.
