mike simonetti is a man with a pretty unimpeachable cv. founder of troubleman unlimited records (home of chromatics and glass candy - destined to be THE bands of this year - and countless more great acts). creator of the italians do it better blog that has just spun off into a record label and put out the brilliant after dark compilation. a sought after dj who celebrates his birthday by playing with carl craig in new york.

basically, we hate him.

but mike has been good enough to ignore our petty jealousy in order to do a mix for us. mike told us that he "tried a new experiment and didn't beatmatch for once. wanted to add "atmosphere" and crap like that!" its one that's paid off.

mike hasn't given us a tracklisting for this one but safe to say it starts with buckingham nicks classic "frozen love" and just gets better. a corker.

get the after dark compilation here.

mixes especially those where they don't provide a tracklist are the new version of a classic prog whack off, which I love. But beware...

Man,

Enjoyed the endearingly wonky 'Wings' track on there.. I suspect Macca couldn't cook up a profound lyric if the entire future of music depended on it, but he's got a pretty good knack for melody.

The disco Beatle?
