[right click here to save]

we have band have been described as a hectic, bass-heavy synth-pop odyssey that sounds something like can being covered by buggles", something that definitely piqued our interest.

made up of married couple thomas and dede with darren bancroft their sound combines dance rhythms, washy electronic synths, post punk funk bass and individual pop vocals from each member. their debut single 'oh!' hits at the end of november. you can check it out on their myspace and also find details of where to catch one of their rather stellar live gigs.

volume three

volume 3 by allez-allez (70.70mb, 61:36mins)
[right click here to save]

two years ago we started this site out of frustration, frustration that we weren't hearing the music that we loved represented and played together, and tired of playing records in clubs / bars to people who expected to only hear music that they already knew. our dream is that hopefully along the way, through our / the guest mixes we've helped you find a new favourite band or tune, and soundtracked some good times (or bad).

for us it's all about reaching out across t'internet for a pan-global musical high five, and we want to thank you, dear reader / listener for being on the other end. all we ever wanted to do was to share the music we love, and since this site has started we've made a lot of new friends and met a lot of cool people, started making music and of course had the opportunity to DJ in clubs across Europe for some you too, so that's really it's own reward!

so to celebrate our birthday we humbly present you with allez-allez vol. 3, the third in our series of longer mixes... we hope you like!

jane - beserker
atlas sound - bite marks
the long blondes - guilt (pantha du prince remix)
the skull - lovesong
dj koze - all the time
sleeparchive - image photometer
fuck buttons - bright tomorrow
von sudenfed - the rhinohead (pilooski edit)
four tet - patchwork
the chap - woop woop (hot chip remix)
mr oizo - m-seq
caribou - niobe

and what's a birthday without presents? the shred yr face tour is currently making its way through the country with a stellar line-up of no age, times new viking and los campesinos. they hit the electric ballroom on monday the 20th but the day before they'll be doing a london instore crawl with no age playing pure groove at 3pm, tnv playing beyond retro at 5pm and los campesinos taking the stage at rough trade at 7pm. you can get a wristband for all three gigs by buying a single at the pure groove store but we have a pair to give away. simply email us (allezallezclub [at] googlemail.com) and tell us the name of three labels that have released no age records. first correct answer wins.

and finally, if you're in london on fridaycome on down to alphabet city (with bush tetras, optimo, emporer machine and more and more), promises to be an awesome night. and any readers from cologne should come down to hans bockler on saturday and check out our set at gruezi club. see you there.

wesley matsell

allez-allez time mix by wesley matsell (55.80mb, 40:36mins)
[right click here to save]

border community new boy wesley matsell seems to tick all the boxes for good human being. when he is not dividing his time between youth-work at his local church in merthyr tydfil and the odd bout of hiking and cycling he is responsible for bombs like the airwolf-meets-jean-michel-jarre schaffel-rave-monster 'bernwerk'. if you've not heard it yet, go here and find your new favourite tune.

his wide-ranging list of influcences takes in modern classical, rephlex, acid house, the evolution of dance music from early house through hardcore and rave, a very select group of trendy bands, the feelgood ed banger scene, grime and dubstep, and a whole lot more as demonstrated on this weeks mix. check his myspace for news of his rather special dj sets.

in other border community related news, our good pal james holden has once again raised the bar with his incredible new remix for mercury rev's 'senses on fire'... it's a tear-jerkingly euphoric kosmiche workout that's so good it's actually a bit uncomfortable to listen to (play on head phones LOUD)... anyhow, support all concerned and go and pick up yer shiny mp3 here... itunes only unfortunately :( Oh, and he just did an equally skill remix of Radiohead's 'Reckoner' which doesn't seem to be out yet, but go seek out also...

hecker - bsf°tyk 5
gyorgi ligeti - Lux Aeterna
kim cascone - Null Drift
2 dollar egg - untitled
maetrik - kamtron
misc. - double tongue
we are records - unknown
hugg & pepp - krook
d.i.m. - frogger
elektrochemie - mucky star
wesley matsell - bernwerk

pocketknife and cousin cole

party allez time mix by cousin cole & pocketknife (133.64mb, 70:51mins)
[right click here to save]

pocketknife and cousin cole of flagrant fowl records have caused something of a stir this year. their indie/folk mix cd, "tambourine dream", 18 tracks of loveliness, featuring all exclusive remixes of songs from the likes of joanna newsom, bruce springsteen, devendra banhart, and neil young has found fans from across the musical spectrum, from spankrock to todd terje to dj ravin of buddha bar fame. limited quantities are still available from turntable lab.

pocketknife caught the djing bug as a teenager in iowa when he befriended dj wolf (original 70s disco/deep house jock who rocked it with lil' louis in chi) and then honed his craft with theo parrish (sound signature) while the two were in art school together. production was inevitable, as pocketknife started to make tracks while attending grad school in detroit. cousin cole comes to the party from a more hip-hop direction, known for his wide ranging dj sets with a strong baltimore club influence, his biggest track so far, cousin cole's "soulja boy" remix has achieved primetime airplay by hot 97 in nyc and power 106 in la.

now both based in brooklyn, pocketknife throws down with cousin cole as flagrant fowl dropping classic jams as well as their own unique remixes. this exclusive mix is the something rather special indeed. a killer mix that comes in two parts, it's also the first time that you'll get to hear some of the exclusives from the forthcoming "canyon dancing" ep on flagrant fowl (forthcoming for halloween).
